Table Talk
By Elsie Maclay
A love story: Alison DeRenzi, and American art history student, and Frencesco d’Amuri, an Italian chef whose avocation is woodworking, met in Florence two days after Alison arrived. It was love at first sight. They married and settled in Italy, dreaming of a restaurant they would own one day in America. L’Orcio in New Haven (203/777-6670) is that resturant. The décor is as stylish as contemporary Florence and the food as sensuous as a Neapolitan love song. Not to be missed: homemade pasta allo scoglio, bistecca di vittello alla Valdostanna, and L’Orcio’s ravishing house-made chocolate-pear tart. |
